Kaylee seemed to enjoy this track, it was one of her favorites. The track remained the same configuration. However, for this trip, the schedule would be different. The event would conclude of two days on track. The first day, with two practices, a qualifying, and two (heat) races to conclude the day. The second day consisted of four races.

Picking up a Few Tenths

Kaylee had finished P4 at her last race event at Rocky Mountain Motorsports, this time, she wanted a podium. It was still a tall order, against a twenty car field, all at their home track. But, Kaylee had been practicing and racing a lot, and was ready for this weekend.

The First Day Back on Track

The two practice sessions went well, Kaylee was doing what her instructors needed her to work on, and it worked. She was closer than ever before in time. Unfortunately, when qualifying came around, it seemed like she just came short. She obtained her fastest lap while she was going through traffic, putting her in P6. Not fantastic, but they were all reasonably close together. Finally, it was time for the first race of the day. Starting P6, she would be on the outside of a very fast right hander, and an upcoming hair-pin. Kaylee's goal was to get to the inside as soon as possible, to play possible defense and to avoid loosing any positions. She had a good start, but got squeezed going into the hair-pin (Turn 2). Suddenly, she found her pace after falling to P7. With one driver driving off, and two more ahead continuously fighting, Kaylee was closing fast. She quickly got around P5, and P4 and crossed the finish line in P3 for the first race.

Yet again, it was time for the second, and final race of the day. Kaylee had an amazing start, moving from P6 to P2 before reaching Turn 2. Around mid-race, she got passed by one driver and finished P3.

A Long Second Day

The final day was packed full of four races, no warm-up, or qualifying! For the first race, not the best start. Her and two other drivers are immediately three wide going into the first few corners. Kaylee falls back multiple positions to come back and finish the first race in P6. A good battle, but ultimately cut short in the end.

For the start of the fourth race of the weekend, she immediately makes up two positions and slides up to P4 after the green. P2, P3, and P4 are all insanely close together, waiting for each other to make a mistake, and unable to make a safe pass. However, an amazing race to watch.

The fifth race, which was the final, came around. Due to all of her finishings, the starting order placed her in P3, right behind the fastest driver of the weekend. After the green, she gets shuffled back to P5. As the race strings out, the time goes down as well. She closes on P4 and makes an aggressive pass down the inside of a fast right hander (Turn 1), and the fight continued, all the way down to the apex of the hairpin (Turn 2). Slight contact, but not enough to set the two cars off balance. Now, she was chasing down P3. Once she closes enough on him, the driver immediately goes defensive, everywhere. It was difficult enough to pass on this track, especially when the drivers behind are closing. Finally, Kaylee does an switchback coming out of Turn 1, leading down to Turn 2. She finishes the final in P3 after a stellar performance.

The last race of the day didn't count towards the final, mainly just extra points. Kaylee would again, start in P3. She held it out of the gate, and had an amazing time getting to practice her defense from P4. She ended the final race of the day in P3 as well.

Looking Ahead

Kaylee is extremely excited to return later this year to Canada at Rocky Mountain Motorsports, and one new track for the last two rounds of the Rush Canadian Series!
