Kaylee, directly after her first Lucas Oil race at Autobahn country club, flew to Calgary, Canada for Round 1 out of 4 of the Rush SR Canadian Series.

Day One: Experiencing the new Circuit

The first day on track would start with practice sessions. It was Kaylee’s first time on track, against 20 other male competitors who have this as their home track. During the day, she struggled with the brakes locking up, but was attempting to work around it. It remained clear skies for Day 1.

Day Two: Weather Trouble

Finally, it was race day. In this schedule, there would only be one race day, which was full of sessions. The day would consist of two practices, two heats, and one final. However, practice two was essentially qualifying, but you still had to draw out of a hat for position. On practice one, the track was damp, which proved to be good for practice two. During practice two, Kaylee took P1, but still had to draw out of a hat for position. She pulled P4 and had to start her first heat in that position. Kaylee had a decent start, but when the rear wheels locked up going into turn 2, it made her loose a couple more spots. She fell to P10 and made her way back up to P6 in 7-8 short laps. Kaylee starts P6 for Heat 2 and experienced a full course caution for most of the session. Unfortunately, she ran out of time and only made it up to P4. For the final, the points were counted and the would start in P4. Kaylee had a good start and made it up to P3, but she was just out of reach for chasing the top 2. After a hard fought battle, she crossed the finish line in P4.

Overall, it was a successful weekend when one takes the weather and track into consideration. It was her second time in a race car in the wet as well. Throughout the two days, she also experienced hail and lots of cross winds. Kaylee is looking forward to her first F4 testing in 10 days, and to be back for Round 2 next month!
